Public Services Department in Ras Al Khaimah, represented by the "Raqib" Patrols , which is concerned with monitoring and recording violations of environmental infringement in various regions of the emirate, especially natural and beach areas, in light of the high number of visitors to those areas, said that the service inspectors recorded 1,992 environmental violations during the first half of this year, against people who are not committed to the laws in force to protect the environment and tourist areas.
Eng. Khalid Fadl Al Ali, Director General of Public Services Department in Ras Al Khaimah, stressed the importance of the cooperation of community members in order to unify efforts to address environmental issues, preserve them and sustain resources in line with the Year of Sustainability, and the UAE's efforts aimed at permanent care in environmental work in all its aspects, highlighting the importance of the environment and its issues and urging individuals to participate positively in protecting it.
He pointed out that the department, represented by the environmental service «Raqib», recorded since the beginning of this year until the ninth of this month more than 1992 environmental violations in various regions of the emirate within 6 months.
Where these violations varied in accordance with the list of violations in force to protect the environment and natural and tourist sites, and the service inspectors recorded 939 environmental violations under item (31), regarding not lighting fires or barbecue on the ground directly in non-permitted public places, stressing that the department was keen to design and equip these sites to include special areas for barbecue free of charge within the services provided by the department.
He pointed out that according to item (1) on not dumping, placing and disposing of waste in public squares, more than 544 environmental violations were recorded, stressing that the "Raqeb" service focuses its work on raising environmental awareness for community members by protecting natural and tourist areas that provide breathing space for many resident and tourist nationalities.
Service inspectors control violations for the random disposal of waste and waste in areas other than those designated for it, in addition to monitoring construction projects and sewer tanks that dump their cargo in unauthorized areas.
